Keeping Your Energy Healthy and Clear

Every living thing on earth gives off a field of energy which is called an aura. In humans, there are seven main energy centers in the body which produce the energy in the aura, and these energy centers are called chakras.

Sometimes the chakras stop working properly or shut down due to blocks in the energy field caused by trauma, illness, or some other imbalance; whether it be physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. It is all connected. If one aspect of our well-being is not working properly, it can throw a wrench in to the workings of all other aspects.

One way to begin to ensure that all aspects of your well-being are in alignment and in proper working order is to take good care of your aura! You can become your own energy doctor, and give your aura daily check-ups. Just like a physician can prescribe a remedy for your sore throat or stuffy nose, you can diagnose imbalances or blocks in your own energy field, and implement some simple exercises to remove these blocks and get your energy flowing in a healthy manner once more.

How to diagnose an energy imbalance

Since not everyone is able to see energy, here are some simple tips to help you when diagnosing the state of your aura. Do you feel overly tired, lethargic, or perhaps like you are carrying extra weight around? Are you simply exhausted at the end of the day, beyond normal sleepiness? Do you find yourself in a bad mood often but have trouble pinpointing exactly why? These can be hints that there is some imbalance or block in your energy system.

A good way to keep track of your aura's health is to keep a daily journal. At around the same time every day, sit down for five or ten minutes, close your eyes, relax your body, and take a few deep breaths. With your eyes still closed, scan your body and the energy surrounding it. See how it feels when you focus on your feet, legs, knees. Move up to your thighs, pelvis, and abdomen. Does the energy surrounding your physical body feel the same everywhere, or are there subtle differences? Move up to your hands, arms, shoulders, upper torso, neck and head. What do you notice? Are some areas warm while others are cold? Is there a windy or buzzing sensation in the air around certain parts? Does the energy feel bunched up in certain areas, while other areas have a sort of deadened sensation where there doesn't seem to be much energy at all?

Write down any information, impressions, thoughts, emotions or feelings that you experience while scanning your body and the energy around it. You may be amazed at how much your energy actually tells you!

Now that you have practiced diagnosing whether or not your aura shows any signs of imbalance, you may wonder what a healthy aura feels like. In a healthy aura, the energy is quite balanced and flowing smoothly throughout the entire field. The temperature is comfortable, and there is a feeling of subtle vitality flowing throughout and around your body. With such a smooth flow and balanced field comes a happy heart and clear mind. When all of this is happening simultaneously, you can be pretty sure your aura is in great shape!

Healing the Blocks

If you are fairly certain you've got blocks or imbalances in your aura, don't fret--everyone's got them at some time, and there are ways to remedy the situation!

For instance, meditation can work wonders. Try this energy exercise--practice it often and it can become second nature: Sitting in an upright yet relaxed position, breathing deeply and evenly, focus your awareness on the energy imbalance you have discovered through scanning your aura. What does the imbalance look like? Is it a person? Is it an object or form? Does it have a color? Is it simply a hole in your aura? Is it a mass or part of your energy field that just somehow does not fit in with the rest of your energy? Is it too hard, too soft, too thick, too thin? Focus on it while breathing deeply--and then breathe in to the imbalance that you've pinpointed. As you breathe in to it, have the intention that your breath is a powerful healing tool, and that it is reaching deep in to the center of the imbalance. Breathe in to it again, and have the intention that your breath is empowering the energy to change and shift in whatever way necessary for its healing and balancing. Maybe you are breathing warmth in to the area so that the block can dissolve and melt, making way for proper energy flow once more. Maybe the imbalance is a weak spot in your aura, and your breath is filling it with the strength it needs. The list goes on!

There are other tools you can research and use to help keep your energy balanced even while you are not meditating. Certain gemstones, for instance, have healing properties that can help to balance our chakras and keep our energy open and flowing. There are many books and websites out there that contain information about the healing properties of gemstones. You can find the proper gemstone for your specific need and carry it in your pocket for a few days until you feel your block or imbalance is healed. It is important to rinse the stone regularly in cold water to cleanse away any built-up energies it may collect throughout the day.

There are natural remedies, such as flower essences, that are safe to use regularly, have no harmful side effects, and can help to heal our imbalances at the emotional and energetic levels.

Seeing an energy healer every one to three months can make a tremendous difference in the health of our auras, especially in this day and age of fast-paced living. There are many online directories that can help you in tracking down the healers, shamans and holistic practitioners in your area.

Finally, it is important for us to remember to take care of our own energy daily. If there is an imbalance in your aura, there is always a way to balance it out. With awareness and focused intention, there is no end to what we can accomplish with our own healing power!
